The Münster TPC - Design and calibration of a 2-phase time projection chamber (pdf)

Liquid xenon dual-phase time projection chambers (TPC) are a commonly used detector type for direct dark matter detection. Important advantages over other experimental setups are scalability and self-shielding. The time projection chamber designed and built in Münster can be considered as a small-scale version of the XENON100 experiment. Apart from its dimensions it uses a similar experi- mental setup, thus making the development of new techniques easier than on a large experiment. In this talk, the Münster TPC’s design will be presented and first results that have been performed since a recent upgrade will be shown. The focus will be on gain calibrations of PMTs and analysis methods.
