Diffuse gamma emission with PICARD(pdf)

The diffuse galactic emission is very prominent in gamma ray observations. In this talk I will present our project, a highly sophisticated numerical model for creating accurate gamma-ray maps for the diffuse emission in the galactic plane. In contrast to previous works in this field, which are mainly based on the GALPROP code, we use our own code base named PICARD. PICARD is a fork of the GALPROP code v54, with a completely new numerical scheme and improvements in the nuclear network as well.
